Doug Beube's work in Unbound: An exhibit in three chapters

The book is alive and well and the folks from Dalhousie's art gallery want to make sure you know it. The gallery's latest exhibit shows that not everyone is ready to turn the page on books as we know them, commenting on the hardships of commercial publishing and the rise of the printed matter culture in a three-part collection. The first, a little library curated by Heide Hatry that showcases the books of over 60 artists; the second is Peter Dykhuis' Books as Visual Objects, a collection of paper-based visual art, that re-imagines the book. Finally, the last chapter, see what you think, is an installation from one-time librarian John Murchie, who disrupts the whisper of the gallery with the grind of a paper shredder. What's it eating?
