Twin town: Halifax and the phenomenon of twins, doppelgängers and mistaken identity

True tales of double impact, from a local Twin Peaks expert to our Japanese sister city Hakodate.

Between the two bridges linking the harbour’s separated-at-birth cities, the matchy-matchy towers of Purdy’s Wharf and the local predilection for strong drink, Halifax is often seeing double. But this summer it’s deja vu all over again.

Since the end of May, loads of Haligonian screens have been tuning in to the second coming of Twin Peaks, Showtime’s continuation of the David Lynch series that’s been 25 years in the making. And this week, Halifax is hosting an official delegation from Hakodate, Japan, to honour 35 years of being sister cities.

To clone the spirit of these dual-centric times, we’ve got a couple stories about mistaken identity, doppelgängers, Hakodate and Twin Peaks. No need to copy these links down, just click through and you’ll be matched with the selfsame tale you’re after.
