Re: “Tanya Davis: Artistic tractor

disclosure: I saw Tanya Davis in concert (was bowled over), bought one of her CDs (Clocks and Hearts ... was bowled over), watched her Canada Games performance as HRM poet laureate (on YouTube - was bowled over). I think she is a very big talent. Of course, different people have different tastes. Not everyone likes Leonard Cohen (I do), Bob Dylan (I do), Dean Martin (once in a while), The Black Keys (oh yes), Anne Murray (not really), Black-Eyed Peas (not me), Metallica (not me), but most people, I think, have some musical taste, whatever it is. Anyone not into Tanya’s genre and/or mad at Peter Kelly who happened upon this article/column may not have been inspired - I get that. Tanya: please continue - I think you have a lot to offer us for a long long time.

Re: “Okay Young People, Show us the Love

Point taken. To be honest, I really don't know what the impact (theoretical or actual) of a spoiled ballot is. What I mean in this case is that if you're not happy with the current leadership, a non-vote or a spoiled ballot isn't doing anything to help change it. One theory is that the Cons strategy is to try to keep the youth disengaged - it works to their benefit. Even if you don't like the alternatives, a vote against the Cons send a strong message. www.contrarian.ca has a good piece on strategic voting.

Re: “Bad Drivers

How does the OP know it was the car driver's fault? Was it on the news? Did the OP witness the accident and contact the police and give a statement that would help lay charges if warranted? Anybody else signed up for bridge traffic alerts and not get one? I didn't.

Re: “Mike Savage and Robert Chisholm face off

Why did Chisholm choose Savage to run against? If the ultimate goal is to defeat Harper, why not take on a Conservative, like Keddy, for example. If Chisholm happens to take out Savage, he's only maintaining the balance of Lib/NDP vs Cons. Worse, he may split the vote, and the Con gets in. He must have had a reason. I'd sure like to hear it. Any guesses?

Re: “Hard to smile?

I think you can acknowledge someone’s attempt to connect without overdoing it; a smile is only one way, another is a little eye contact, another is a little extra effort in your reply or even some inane comment on the weather, but I agree: we all have bad mornings or just moments of distraction when we could have done a little better responding. On the other hand, dealing with someone who’s just a had a really good sleep and/or got some last night can be a little hard to take, especially if they’re aggressively attempting to get a smile out of you.

Re: “Ma Belle's Cafe

excellent food & service. Three of us had lunch there today, no dessert (no room) $44 + tip. Awesome food, well worth the short wait, very leisurely lunch took one hour; very comfortable nicely decorated dining room (deceiving from the outside); we'll be back to try more menu items
