Touring Green - Blog 21: Vegreville to Lloydminster (June 12)

Music, Glorious Music

Today I finally unpacked the eagerly awaiting iPod from my bag and began listening to music and boy did I ever listen to music!

You Left Saving The Planet definitely worth checking out if you're an Arcade Fire fan as the guy is a one-man-fire-in-a-place-of-videogames; quite enjoyable.

Big Eye: Little Eye by The Golden Dogs amazing, amazing disc as I've already said and what many Haligonians already know from their HPX show and their two dates with Joel Plaskett at The Marquee for NYE.

Finally got to listen to Neon Bible by the Arcade Fire (and a couple times). I'm not sure if anyone's said this yet but the fact that this record sold so well in the states completely gives us faith in the music industry's output of good, popular music. This album is completely incredible (I as well share an affinity for church organs too so it's great to hear them featured so often on the record).

I then listened to the entire Flaming Lips discography and they reminded me again why I love their music so much... "Do You Realize..." simple, yet awesome, lyrics. Most amazing word play of their being the use of both "Stranger" as a foreigner, and "Stranger" as "more strange" in the same sentence.

Finally, after a long day of biking through rain and interesting weather to say the least not to mention the longest day I've ever done (156k), I made it to Lloydminster and was quite happy to find such a nice accommodations.

Here's a video I, excitedly, took of the place I was staying when I got their out of the cold:

"Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So… get on your way!" - Dr. Seuss
