Tom Waits

Glitter & Doom Live (Epitath)

Tom Waits never gets old, both figuratively and literally. He proves himself again on Glitter and Doom as he yelps, howls and rasps his way through a set of newer gems and reworked classics with undaunted energy. It's a collection of increasingly rare live performances from his 2008 tour, bringing to life the rapture and demented-carnival grandeur that is present-day Waits. From a charged revision of Rain Dogs' "Singapore," to a surging, creepy performance of Bone Machine's "Dirt in the Ground," Waits has an intensity and vision most folks could only hope for half of. At 60, Waits has never compromised, never let up, and Glitter and Doom is no exception.
