Relaxed romance

Bev & Dave | Married October 21, 2011

On the night they met, Bev Tortola and Dave Fidler didn’t sleep a wink—there was too much to say. After talking the hours away the pair shared their first breakfast at the cozy Canadiana Restaurant, little did they know then that Fidler would be serving up a ring and popping the question at the very same spot just one year later. They got down to the planning in an organized—but never stressful—manner, picking Pier 21 as the perfect venue for their reception because it “only needed a few final touches to make it ours,” remembers Bev—adding that she and Dave were sold on the view, too. “Our vision for the day was to be simple yet romantic, a relaxed day where everyone would have a good time and be able to see just how happy and in love Dave and I were.” And that much was certainly clear. From getting lost in each others eyes as Bev walked down the aisle, to dancing the night away in a rich part of Halifax’s history...the blue-skied, autumn day was all about them and the rest was just details. “I was just happy to marry her,” says Dave. “Everything else really didn’t matter to me.”
