Sweet and stress-free

Kathleen & Phil | Married October 1, 2011

When Kathleen Higgins and Phil Godin began their wedding planning, the most important thing to the pair was that the celebration showed their love of their family, friends and where they live. “This was a local wedding, in terms of resources, materials and producers,” says Higgins. “We live in a beautiful, bountiful little spot in the world---a spot we love---where we met and live together. It was just natural to us that our wedding reflect that.” With the help of their “wonderfully talented friends, family and neighbours” the couple crafted a party that was irreverent, personal and warm. “Nobody ever seemed too obsessed with doing things for the sole sake of ‘tradition,’ which made the whole thing fairly stress-free,” says Higgins. “We were throwing the biggest party of our lives, with a rather disparate guest-list---or a party, I mean---and on top of all that, there’s the whole lifelong commitment to another person thing. I think we did OK."
