Thom Yorke

The Eraser

Thom Yorke
The Eraser
Fans of Radiohead’s more recent work will feel right at home with frontman Thom Yorke’s debut solo disc. Though The Eraser is surprisingly accessible, it’s still a long way from a commercial recording. Technology continues to provide Yorke’s haunting vocals with an intricate tapestry of bleeps and boops, seamlessly interwoven with organic instrumentation that provides a clearing for the vocal track to bubble to the surface. Cuts such as “Black Swan” and “Atoms for Peace” show why Radiohead has been a critical darling while eschewing the commercial market. You’ll need to work your way into the heart of Yorke’s disc, but once there, be prepared to stay a while.
