The Trews

Den of Thieves

The Trews
Den of Thieves
(SonyBMG/Bumstead)
To follow up their recent opening slot for the “secret” Rolling Stones gig in Toronto, the Trews hit with the follow-up to their hugely successful debut House of Ill Fame. Den of Thieves bears a distinctively different feel, as production duties were shared between Gordie “Big Sugar” Johnson and Jack Douglas (Aerosmith, John Lennon). Where Johnson is content to shred the speakers, Douglas turns the amps down a notch or two to capture a more intimate, bluesy sound. The Antigonish lads had an opportunity to spend some time in the Tragically Hip’s Bathouse studio, which helps to add to the laid-back feel of the latter half of the disc. This is an album that will defy the expectations of Ill Fame fans, but Den of Thieves will definitely satisfy your Trews tooth.
