The Decelebration of Canada 150

Raven Davis' performance piece is art-based activism, an attempt to rebuff the plaid-and-maple-leaf laden celebrations of Canada's 150. Instead, she's pointing an eye to the discourse of Indigenous people, Indigenous sovereignty and Indigenous history in Halifax and Canada. Coast writer Allison Devereaux caught up with Davis for our new art issue—read the story here. The April 29 performance is held at Cornwallis Park while the May 5 edition is held at the Citadel clock tower.
