The anger cycle

Dear motorist,

I am a cyclist. Maybe if I can help you to understand me, you won't hate me so much.

Please stop telling me to "get off the road." Bicycles are classified as vehicles under the Motor Vehicle Act, and belong on the road.

Please don't be angry if I'm in front of you at an intersection. If I am making a left turn, I need to be in the left hand lane.

I am going faster than you think, sometimes almost 50km/h. If you wouldn't turn left into the path of an oncoming car, you shouldn't make one into my path either.

There are bad cyclists, but they're a minority. Most of us are well aware that bad cycling only produces dead cyclists.
