Tangiers

The Family Myth

Tangiers
The Family Myth
Frenchkiss/Baudelaire
Josh Reichmann and James Sayce are now Tangiers, the Toronto-based garage rock outfit that has just released their third CD, The Family Myth. The album includes the work of various friends like occasional Tangier and former Guided by Voice Jon McCann on drums and NYC producer Chris Zane (The Cloud Room, Les Savy Fav). It may well be the influence of Zane but this album drips with New York City nostalgia — not the insanely-priced-brownstone, Caucasian-art-student-crammed Williamsburg of today, but rather the same city in time that intoxicates The Strokes: Richard Hell, Television, Iggy Pop, leather jackets that zip up on an angle and pencil-thin everyone. Sometimes you wanna pogo your ass off, sometimes no.

Survey Asks

Should council use the yet-to-be-finalized Centre Plan when debating new developments?

  • No, it doesn’t exist yet and is still likely to change
  • Yes, thousands of hours of work and consultation have gone into what’s already assembled
  • Maybe, it really depends on what’s being proposed by the developer
  • I don’t know what the Centre Plan is and do not wish to participate in this poll
