To the editor,
Pizza Corner should have been cleared out years ago. It has been a hub for late-night bullshit, violence, litter and drunken and disorderly conduct for years. It's a magnet for bored youth up late at night. Downtown Halifax is dirty and out of control, and the Halifax police should be WALKING THE BEAT between 10pm and 4am, not driving around in vans! They spend more time driving gay men out of cruising spots than they do taking care of the troubled and violent streets of the downtown core. I felt safer in downtown Toronto than I do here. It's pretty sad to see the total deterioration of the downtown core of Halifax. Maybe the hot dog venders should sell cans of mace and spray cans of indelible dye—then you could mark your perpetrator!
And by the way, a friend and I were harassed and swarmed one night by a group of young girls who didn't like the way we asked for our slice of pizza. That was the last time I went to Pizza Corner late at night—and that was 10 years ago.
