Symphony Nova Scotia with Jenn Grant and Special Guest Buck 65

Fresh from a swim in the hotel pool in Vancouver, Jenn Grant is resting up before the night's Cultural Olympiad show for a 10,000-person crowd, and for what she's coming home to play. "I'm really, really excited and honoured and I can't wait [for the Symphony show], I've been looking forward to this for a year...but long before that too because I was always hoping it would happen," says Grant, her sincerity and genuine excitement evident over the phone line, despite her yawns and apologies for being tired. (Can you blame her? The local songstress is almost finished a cross-Canada tour for the Olympic games, performing 14 shows in fewer than three weeks.) David Christensen, Grant's bandmate and half of Heavy Blinkers, orchestrated all the Symphony parts for Friday night's show, and Buck 65 is making a special guest appearance for a song he and Grant cowrote. "It'll be a dream come true," says Grant. "I've got a nice dress and I can't wait." –Holly Gordon
