Learn to Smile Again

Learn to Smile Again

This fourth disc from the Susie Arioli Band is primarily dedicated to the music of Roger Miller, one of America’s finest country songwriters. He mainly wrote comedic songs (“You Can’t Roller Skate Through a Buffalo Herd”) but also crafted serious music that went on to be well respected and produce hits. (Can anyone say “King of the Road”?) It is Miller’s deeper, more melancholic material that gets attention on Learn to Smile Again, a remarkable tribute (six of 11 songs are Miller tunes) highlighting the lyricism and poetic simplicity of songs like “Half a Mind” or “A World I Can’t Live In.” Though these songs were originally recorded as country tunes, the Arioli band’s Django-style interpretations seem so fluid and natural, they are completely engaging.

Should council use the yet-to-be-finalized Centre Plan when debating new developments?

  • No, it doesn’t exist yet and is still likely to change
  • Yes, thousands of hours of work and consultation have gone into what’s already assembled
  • Maybe, it really depends on what’s being proposed by the developer
  • I don’t know what the Centre Plan is and do not wish to participate in this poll
