Florida's one big dick, just waiting to get sucked in the candy-coated sexploitation romp, Spring Breakers. Director Harmony Korine assembles a gang of bored college coeds (Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine) who rob a diner to bankroll the best spring break ever. Comfortable showcasing society's absurd ugliness, Korine is at home in the Dionysian snake pit of vacationing college kids. The beer-soaked revelry is led by Alien, James Franco's charmingly impotent rapper-cum-gangster. A montage of his excessive lifestyle props (he keeps Scarface on repeat) is met with castrating giggles from the girls even before they make him fellate their guns. A sanctimonious movie might end with Gomez' good girl bussing home, uncomfortable with the increasing debauchery. Korine wisely lets her go. The better stories are the women who find a spiritual peace in this fizzy, neon war zone. Most of the world just vacations in hedonism, but Spring Breakers shows some bikini-clad monsters are aching for the chance to live in that world forever. —Jacob Boon
