Published October 16, 2003.SpokaneMeasurement(Jagjaguwar) If you have ever sat stoned watching the grass grow, you might have a sense of what Spokane wants to achieve with its brand of slo-core. If you think you would enjoy such time distortion, Measurement is for you. So devoid of momentum and aim, the experience of listening to this disc is like floating helpless in the far reaches of space and not knowing how to get back. Ideally the shared vocal duties of Rick Alverson and Courtney Bowles would offer some diversity, but truth be told it barely registers. Measurement is beyond atmospheric music; it actually becomes the atmosphere. —Dave Hayden
