Sober Spaces as Safer Spaces? Exploring the Intersections of Intoxication Culture

Join the folks of Rad Frosh and South House for a discussion on binge-drinking, intoxication culture and its impacts on communities. The discussion will ask the important questions: How do we balance commitments to creating safer spaces for addicts and for those who wish to consume alcohol while still supporting those who practice sobriety? How do we situate our discussion of sober spaces within an academic/university context, where substance issues look very different than those faced by marginalized people and communities? How can we understand and deconstruct "intoxication culture" in a way that centres the voices of addicts, survivors, people of colour, Indigenous people, and people with disabilities?
