Snailhouse comes out of his shell

The Montreal-based singer-songwriter humours us with his new record Sentimental Gentleman .

Mike Feuerstack (AKA Snailhouse) has just given Europe a taste of his new record and now it's our turn. Sentimental Gentleman may be his sixth full-length, but Feuerstack's starting to see a growth in his songwriting that's resulted in a record that is both honest and humourous. "I think it's just a sign of maturing and taking a more holistic way of writing songs. There's no reason why something that's a big part of my personality shouldn't be present in my music. The songs are starting to reflect more facets of the way my brain works." The album also sees the return of good friends and collaborators Mike Belyea, Nick Cobham and Kyle Cunjak, who've joined the Snailhouse tour as well. "There's always kind of been an intuitive connection, we've never had to discuss too much or arrange in an overly cerebral way how to make the music come to life."

Saturday June 11, The Seahorse Tavern, 1663 Argyle Street, 10pm, $10
