Re: “Gottingen Street changing in big ways

Gottingen Street is like a broken-winged phoenix that repeatedly tries to resurrect itself but never quite gets off the ground.

Re: “Do we really need a new underpass into Bayers Lake?

Would the results of this survey be different if the answers were simply yes/no?

Re: “Meeting violence with LOVE

All well and good but we live in a democracy and, right or wrong, the majority of people want youth justice to reflect something closer to corporal punishment. I agree that the solution starts at home, giving kids a nurturing environment in which to develop and mature. The seemingly insurmountable challenge is giving every child such a healthy home.

Re: “Hiking the line

Another great local hike is at the Uniacke Estate Museum. Shortest trail is about a km and the full loop will take you a couple hours. Families and dog walkers will enjoy the wide and well-maintained Old Post Road trail - following the same route the stage coaches took from Halifax to Windsor. A bit more challenging is the Wetland Trail and Barrens Trail. All-in-all, a good walk in the woods that's less than 30 minutes from Halifax.

Re: “The Armview Restaurant & Lounge

Went there for brunch last Saturday morning and the place was packed. Their brunch menu is extensive and includes pretty much everything you'd want from a diner-type restaurant. I had a breakfast BLT, with home fries on the side. Top notch, although the home fries could have been cut smaller to make them crispier. The decor isn't fancy at all, and I wouldn't really recommend their patio unless you enjoy watching cars whip by on Chebucto or through the round-about. Overall, it's a great alternative to the Ardmore.
