Some People Have Real Problems

Sia
Some People Have Real Problems
(Monkey Puzzle Records)
Australian Sia has been successful in the last few years. She backed up Jamiroquai and Massive Attack and her own songs hit UK charts and American television. With her latest release, she hopes to establish herself as an international star. Some People Have Real Problems seems, at first hearing, as quirky and original as the projects Sia has been involved with in the past. While the lyrics are clever and the melodies catchy, the album never breaks convention long enough to establish Sia's relevance as a solo artist. Appropriate for playing during a cafe shift or on a road trip with mom, Sia's latest is good, but not great.
