The later it is in December, the worse it is to be anywhere near a shopping centre. Tensions are high and the soundtrack can get incredibly irritating. So, last minute shoppers, check out these primo locations to ditch the hustle and bustle for a holly-jolly breather.

The Hunt Club

At this rustic retail retreat you can shop and drink, simultaneously. The Hunt Club offers men's and women's apparel and footwear, a full service bar and it shares a kitchen with its neighbor Bubba Ray's. What's next, free footrubs with purchase?

Spring Garden Place, 5640 Spring Garden Road (entrance on Dresden Row)

If you're going to take a shopping intermission here, make sure you do it between 4:30 and 6:30pm (or 9 &10pm) so you can pair your five dollar martini with half priced appies.

Park Lane Mall, 5657 Spring Garden Road (upstairs), 405-4060

The Halifax Shopping Centre scares us at this time of year. Take the edge off by sneaking off to enjoy $2.75 draught and $3.75 bottles. Your pocketbook will breathe a sigh of relief.

Fairlanes Bowling Alley, 7001 Mumford Road, 455-5446

Boston Pizza

Really, there's no shopping woe that obscenely large drinks can't cure. Check out Thunder Mug Thursdays and Fishbowl Fridays for beverages big enough to match your holiday headache.

Barrington Place Shops, 1858 Granville Street, 422-8600
