SappyFest VIII

Two big ol' tents + a beer garden + some free and easy tunes = a guaranteed way to warm the cockles of even the most chilled hearts. Or rather, to chill our midsummer selves right out. Started in 2006 as "a more feasible way to get all our friends together than a wedding," these days Sappyfest is shutting down the city so you can catch shows in venues like an art deco movie house or the Legion. This year's line-up includes Jon McKiel, Shotgun Jimmie, Doldrums and many others. —Michaela Cavanagh
