Mike Ryan and Bruce Gillis, better known as The Town Heroes, are back with an expanded cast on their fourth melodic rock album Everything (Will Be Fine When We Get To Where We Think We're Going). Joining them this round, and live, are guitarist Aaron Green and bassist Victoria Cameron—who many will recognize as one of the city's dynamic duos, playing together in multiple acts including Hello Delaware and Floodland. Everything also features a number of tracks that the Heroes have been sitting on for a few years, as the songs required some new blood to make them whole—one of the oldest being "Words For Days."
"That song's almost as old as the band itself," says Ryan. "It's kind of just been floating around because I knew it needed more instrumentation than just the two of us to come to life."
The album was first announced back in April through one of the band's reliably hilarious Facebook videos, detailing its theme of self-examination and, in today's hyper-connected world, figuring out who you are.
"I don't think I sat down to write these songs and had an answer to that. It was more just putting the question out there," says Ryan. "I think we are all trying to figure out who we are, and as I get older that's a little more relevant. We want to make sure that the things we have in our life are the things that should be there, and the things that we care about."
