Saint Mary's Reading Series: Anne Compton and Ross Leckie

Before retiring from teaching in 2012 to write full-time, Anne Compton was Lorenzo Writer-in-Residence at UNB Saint John. She has published four books of poetry, including Processional (winner of the Governor General’s Award) and Alongside (Raymond Souster Award, 2014). She has also published the study A.J.M. Smith: Canadian Metaphysical and the compiliaton of interviews Meetings with Maritime Poets. Her other awards have included a National Magazine Award for Poetry and the Alden Nowlan Award of Excellence in the Literary Arts. Ross Leckie’s newest publication is The Critique of Pure Reason, a poetry chapbook from Frog Hollow Press. He has published three poetry collections, Gravity’s Plumb Line, The Authority of Roses, and A Slow Light. His study interests include 20th-century American and Canadian literature, post-colonial literature, and cultural studies. For many years he has been editor of The Fiddlehead and a poetry editor for Goose Lane Editions. He and Anne Compton were among the four editors of Coastlines: The Poetry of Atlantic Canada.
