Published October 09, 2003.Rufus WainwrightWant One(Dreamworks) For those who cherished Rufus Wainwright’s debut like a God-given proclamation, his second, Poses, was a minor slump on the road to inevitable greatness. And it is for those fans that Want will seem like a second coming. Except for a cliched, uninteresting “Vicious World,” the whole album is like an exotic cocktail of big orchestral moments that stand on their heads (“Oh What A World” and “14th Street”) and intimate subtleties (“Pretty Thing,” “Want” and “Vibrate”) that chronicle Rufus’s last few years when drugs and depression were his close associates. Want Two is supposedly around the corner, and it cannot come soon enough. —Dave Hayden
