Rise Against

Appeal To Reason

Rise Against
Appeal To Reason
(Geffen)
Now three albums into big-label territory, Rise Against is again weathering calls of sellout. But even though the band rose from the ashes of melodic hardcore's golden children 88 Fingers Louie, Rise Against has never claimed to be anything. Instead, the band has simply explored their influences, be it punk, metal or hardcore. The fluctuation between styles, which is common on their albums, is smooth enough on Appeal To Reason that most listeners can adapt. This album typifies the band's worth: heartfelt lyrics, the incredible voice of Tim McIlrath and, most importantly, earnest choruses which will haunt your head for days.
