RiFF RAFF

Neon Icon (Mad Decent Records)

riffraff.jpg

Neon Icon is the amazing second record from RiFF RAFF (AKA Jody Highroller), mixing as many genres as there are colours in the fluorescent rainbow, consistent with his almost-mocking bars about Taco Bell, snowmen, Versace pythons: I mean, what in the sweet hell is this? Short list: a Macho Man with cornrows, a slow Texan drawl ("Jawwdinz"), lines of "Kokayne," aquaberry dolphins (?), features by Childish Gambino, Mac Miller, Slim Thug and robo-synths on "VIP Pass to My Heart," the best love song I've ever heard. Da RiFF is America's most luminous idiot-savant and I'm blinded by my love for him.

Survey Asks

Should council use the yet-to-be-finalized Centre Plan when debating new developments?

  • No, it doesn’t exist yet and is still likely to change
  • Yes, thousands of hours of work and consultation have gone into what’s already assembled
  • Maybe, it really depends on what’s being proposed by the developer
  • I don’t know what the Centre Plan is and do not wish to participate in this poll
