Recently Engaged: Janis & Ryan

The perfect dessert: ring-topped crème brûlée.

My fiance and I have been dating for almost six years and we both knew from the first year of being together that we were going to spend the rest of our lives together. We were inseparable from the beginning.

Last August, I won a flight at the Buskers on the Waterfront from Westjet. At that moment, we decided that we were going to take a trip to Jamaica as a Christmas present to each other. During the next two weeks, I planned the trip and finally booked our vacation at Couples Tower Isle in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. This was the ultimate Christmas present and a great relief after my first semester of graduate school.

The trip was absolutely magical. So relaxing and beautiful! I was enjoying our romantic time together and loving the resort. Little did I know, Ryan had been planning a surprise for me since October. In constant contact with the staff at Couples, Ryan had organized the most amazing surprise.

After two nights of ogling the people enjoying intimate private dinners on the beach, I was so jealous, but on the third day of our trip, I was lead down to the beach where a candle lit dinner awaited me. Our meal was fantastic and Ryan was extremely romantic (which is out of the ordinary). And then when my dessert came, my gorgeous engagement ring was in the whipped cream of the crème brûlée! After almost six wonderful years together, he finally asked! I could not have asked for a better night and proposal.

We hope to get married in August 2012.
