Psst! Take action

To the editor,

Re: Joanne Gidney's letter, "Not eating this up," Letterhead, November 1: You had an eloquent and convincing argument about how environmentalism has been co-opted by the consumerist paradigm and about how more collective measures are the answer to our environmental woes. And then you arsed it all by saying that this was your excuse to do nothing.

Both collective and individual measures are important. It is individually worthwhile to invest in retrofitting your home, composting on-site and sharing our steel gadgets with other households.

When will people start to take collective measures? Why don't you begin that foodgroup, that carpool, that car co-ownership, that housing co-op, that planned community? Start the revolution, I will be there. If you're serious about your collective measures, get me a contact email in the "psst" column. I don't think you will. I think you'd rather take the excuse to put your plastics in your black bag.
