Pierce Brosnan, ice cream sandwiches

All in a day's work

The big night is tonight!

At 7:30 pm tonight, we’re opening our doors for the premiere of our very funny (if we do say so ourselves, and we do) one-woman show and night of sketch comedy. We’ve got about a kabillion things to do before showtime, and so what are we going to do instead? Blog, of course (you’re welcome).

The past few days have been as busy as can be expected. On Monday, we moved into the Bus Stop Theatre on Gottingen Street, and we’re happy to report that despite our best efforts (and the biblical storm last night), the place is still standing.

The Bus Stop is infamously hot during the summer, so among other preparations, we’ve arranged to sell those oh-so-delicious Jubilee Junction ice cream cookie sandwiches to cool people down. And while we might be faced with an epic summer thunderstorm instead of sweltering humidity, we can say with full confidence that ice cream sandwiches are delicious all the time (in fact, Griffin is stuffing his face with one right now, and it’s 9am and raining out.)

Apart from our dress rehearsal, Tuesday was spent going through our to-do list, which looks something like this:

Clean up:

-Stage - check

- Lobby - check

- Bathrooms - check

- our act - …

We also discovered a tenuous but no-less-exciting two degrees of separation between Wit’s End Theatre and Agent 007 himself. Our very own Chloe Sullivan, one of the stars of our sketch comedy show, ran into—wait for it—Pierce Brosnan in the Public Gardens! And rumour has it he’s a big fan and is coming to see the show! Eek! *

[* Disclaimer: while Chloe did see Mr. Brosnan from afar, and while we’re optimistic, we can neither confirm nor deny the alleged presence of Mr. Brosnan tonight. We can, however, confirm that he is just as pretty in real life.]

So if you want to be anything like Mr. Bond, come see My Boyfriend’s Back and There’s Gonna Be Laundry tonight at the Bus Stop! What’s that, you ask? Do we expect you to talk?

In the immortal words of Auric Goldfinger:

“No, Mr. Bond, we expect you to die come see the show!”*

[* Second disclaimer: This show is not endorsed by Ian Fleming, the James Bond franchise, or Gert Fröbe. But it is endorsed by Chloe Sullivan.]
