This pleasant enough straight-to-DVD comedy stars Catherine Keener as an uptight lawyer who takes her kids (one is Elizabeth Olsen) to her Mom’s for the summer. Problem? Mom is a hippie of the original sort, and is played by Jane Fonda. Cue the unwinding, maaaaaan! Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Chace Crawford play the respective laidback country love interests, Keener sings at one point (it’s lovely) and of course there’s some self-discovery and whatnot. Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy) clearly gets the most pleasure out of directing Fonda, riffing on herself, assured and chill, happy to be in something that isn’t Monster-in-Law.
