Our Shared History

The once-founding figures of history have often had the blemishes of sexism or racism airbrushed from their history—take, for example, Edward Cornwallis, the "founder" (but really settler) of Halifax, who allegedly issued bounties for Mi’kmaq people's scalps. But, as the truth about history's ugly side bubbles up, how do we celebrate what is meaningful to some but offensive to others? And how do we rectify these past injustices?
