OneRepublic
Dreaming Out Loud
Interscope
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard the Timbaland remix of OneRepublic’s “Apologize.” It may not be a groundbreaking single, however it was certainly a breakthrough for the band. Frontman Ryan Tedder worked for Timbaland in the early 2000s, but it was the inclusion on Tim’s Shock Value which put the band on the top-40 map. OneRepublic’s brand of pop-rock finds its sound wedged between the folk-pop stylings of Train and the ethereal-emotive tone of Coldplay. This album could be another disposable effort headed for a one-hit wonder pile. Instead, Dreaming Out Loud is a better album than expected.
