One Week

Roll up the rim and win with Joshua Jackson's road trip tale.

Joshua Jackson has always been an amiable and knowing presence and One Week, from writer/director Michael McGowan, cleverly upends his personae by gut-punching his character, Ben Tyler, with a cataclysmic cancer diagnosis and sending him out along the Trans-Canada Highway to find the meaning of it all. One Week is endearingly oh, so Canadian, finding its patriotic groove in the cute idiosyncrasies of this nation, rather than taking smug pride in telling one of "our" stories. With not one, but TWO scenes that feature winning Roll-Up-the Rim-To-Win cups, One Week's pleasures come reliving silly tropes of Canadian life. C'mon, how awesome is it to win a doughnut or a coffee?
