One good turn…

To the editor,

Tim Roberts's letter ("Axles of evil") in the April 12 issue of The Coast probably echoed the feelings of many HRM residents starting to wonder why sensible and sustainable tranportation options don't seem to be taken more seriously by our city planners in 2007.

As both an employee of, and volunteer with, the Ecology Action Centre, I would like to take this opportunity to invite Tim—and all other readers out there with similar concerns about the state of HRM's transportation infrastructure—to get involved with the Transportation Issues Committee of the EAC. To quote directly from the committee's page on the EAC website, "The Transportation Issues Committee's overarching goal is to foster environmentally sustainable and healthy communities through the promotion of sustainable transportation."

I hope to see Tim's time and effort working in harness with us at the EAC very soon. To learn more about the TIC, head for the website at: and click on the Transportation link, call the EAC on 429-2202 or drop by in person to the EAC—we're at 2705 Fern Lane, two blocks north of North Street.
