Elimination of a piece of Halifax lore.

Remarks: Haligonians have for decades told themselves that Spring Hill is the world's only "cemetery with a traffic light"---the light for the Robie/Jubilee intersection sat just inside its fence. We're skeptical (there are some pretty big cemeteries out there in the world), but we've even seen tour buses stop for a lookie, so what do we know? The bureaucrats seem perplexed that anyone should care that they've moved it out to the corner, but if we can't maintain some silly myths about ourselves, what good are we?

Who's Responsible? Ken Reashor, "traffic authority" for HRM, 490-6637.

Survey Asks

Should council use the yet-to-be-finalized Centre Plan when debating new developments?

  • No, it doesn’t exist yet and is still likely to change
  • Yes, thousands of hours of work and consultation have gone into what’s already assembled
  • Maybe, it really depends on what’s being proposed by the developer
  • I don’t know what the Centre Plan is and do not wish to participate in this poll
