Old dirty Bob

Bob Saget leaves his family friendly days behind with raunchy stand up.

Bob Saget'll make ya laugh.
  • Bob Saget'll make ya laugh.

Before you had 24/7 YouTube access to cute cats being silly, baby goats hopping around and middle-aged men getting beaned, punched and head butted in the balls there was Sunday nights with the VHS-donated America's Funniest Home Videos. Hosted from 1989-1997 by the Full House-famous comedian, Bob Saget was the pride of the family-friendly '90s. So, if that's the Saget you know and love you better leave your DVD set behind and bring your earmuffs to the Schooner Showroom because Danny Tanner is a thing of the past. Closer to stand-up Saget is the perverted cokehead Entourage parody he played of himself. It's a disgusting dichotomy that he's somehow perfected---part G-rated smiling dad, part lewd R-rated comedian...but it works. "I did so much family television I have Tourette's now and I'm not fucking around," opens Saget on his That Ain't Right HBO special and you kind of believe him. There's nothing worse than a good-guy image you just can't shake. Free from his sitcom roots, Saget trades solely in bad guy-images now, preferably dirty cameos. Catch him while he rolls through town, you probably won't regret it.

Saturday, March 2, Schooner Room, Casino Nova Scotia, 1983 Upper Water Street, 425-7777, $45-$55, 8pm
