To the editor,
I am writing to you in defence of Mike Drake at Strange Adventures and the accusation in the Nov. 24 issue that he has an "endearing curmudgeonly streak." I looked up curmudgeonly on dictionary.com to ensure I was up-to-date on the definition of this slight (I also looked up the word "slight" to ensure I used it correctly and came off intelligent and worldly), and found that word is used to describe "a crusty old man" who makes "crusty remarks" and has a "gruff manner." Dictionary.com describes a curmudgeon as someone who is "full of resentment and stubborn notions." I must say that I think anyone who looks at Mike and sees a crusty old man who is full of resentment must be blind. He is an excellent salesman who has gotten me to part with much of my hard-earned cash many times and always with a smile and a disposition that made me feel confident that blowing that cash on comics instead of rent was the right thing to do. Mike Drake, nay THE WORLD, awaits The Coast's response!
