Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra: The Firebird Takes Flight

Join the NSYO and its Music Director Dinuk Wijeratne in an exciting array of works in the Orchestra's 36th season finale. The 63 talented young musicians will put their hearts and minds into Stravinsky's ground-breaking Firebird Suite (1919). The 2012 NSYO Concerto Competition winner, Dalhousie University student Julia Tufts, will perform Beethoven's gorgeous Piano Concerto no. 3. The world première of JUNO award-winning composer Derek Charke's Concerto Grosso features NSYO soloists Nelly Chen, Jaewon Choi, Marc Blouin and Chris Eagles. Acadia University composition student Lucas Oickle's Constellations was also written especially for the NSYO.
