Next stop, klezmer

The Blue Engine String Quartet welcomes guest clarinetist for a Klezmer Konnection.

  • The Blue Engine String Quartet

Four incredibly talented women make up the Blue Engine String Quartet. Jennifer Jones, Anne Simons, Margot Aldrich and Hilary Brown (all of whom are also Symphony Nova Scotia members) having been making chamber music under the name since 1997 and over the years added their fiery intricacies to artists

spanning genres. That fire will be blazing as the BESQ is joined by pianist Jennifer King, guest violinist Isabelle Fournier and clarinetist (and brother of Anne Simons) Mark Simons for a night of feverish klezmer songs. Simon, a instructor from McGill's Schulich School of Music, brings his strong background in jazz, baroque and klezmer to Halifax for a performance so energetic, it'll rub off on you.

Mon May 16, James Dunn Theatre, 6101 University Ave, 7:30pm, $15/$10
