New York Dolls

Live from the Royal Festival Hall

Published February 10, 2005.New York DollsLive from the Royal Festival Hall (BMG) The New York Dolls may be one of the most cited influences for bands that would later become bigger and better known—The Ramones, The Clash, The Boomtown Rats, to name a few. This reunion gig, recorded at London’s Royal Festival Hall in 2004, is all very nice and nostalgic but begs the question—does every “influential” band need to reunite or should some acts let their past speak for themselves? As for the New York Dolls—a band that was all about the here and now, fuck the future and fuck the past—this feels as far past its best before date as Mick Jagger’s spandex suit.—Dave Hayden
