City of Brotherly Love

Musem Pieces
City of Brotherly Love
Youth Club
Recorded locally, there’s a whole lotta of love---musical camaraderie at least---coming from Museum Pieces’ six-song EP. Performing as a duo, with Christian Simmons, Virgil Muir and Jason Burns, Pieces’ Tyler Messick and Andy March build a lyrical, slow folk-rock narrative as fulfilling as a full-length. This City’s architecture is structurally sound, with skyscrapers of songs like opener “On Deck,” which crests and falls with drums, piano and guitar. “Bones Parade” is aptly skeletal in its recording, especially when set against the masterfully melodic “I’ve Been Away,”one of the best songs produced in Halifax this year.
