Unpacking the Living Room workshop w/Ruth Marsh

    Wed., Oct. 3, 12-1:30 p.m.

Artist Ruth Marsh, known for creating highly-textured works that meld taxidermy and sci-fi (and often feature mummified bees), hosts this workshop about "how environmental change is affecting delicate bee ecology." Deceased bees and retro-electronic components are used by workshop attendees to demonstrate the subject matter. 902-457-6160

Unpacking the Living Room performance: WORK OUT I WORK OUT

    Sat., Oct. 20, 2-4 p.m.

Unpacking the Living Room is a living art exhibit that sees the MSVU art gallery turned into a casual, familial-feeling gathering space, complete with couch. Made to be a space where "the many dynamics of domestic environments" could be explored, the show's performance by Julie Hollenbach and Gambletron is fitting: A two-part collaborative piece sees feminine gender performance put under the microscope as a group of friends attempt to create self-portraits and then, when considering the weight of "performing femininity to perfection," slouch back into the pleasure of "gender failure." 902-457-6160
