Messiah from Scratch sings loud

This 33rd annual holiday tradition keeps the masses coming year after year, and it's no wonder why.

The Chebucto Symphony Orchestra welcomes you.

For many jolly holiday lovers one of the highlights of the season is the songs, both traditional and fromage-filled radio hits. People don't really go carolling anymore, but this 33-years-strong holiday tradition might be the closest thing to it, giving you the chance to make beautiful music and share some good cheer with a huge group of friends and strangers. The Chebucto Symphony Orchestra is sponsoring Messiah from Scratch, an event that welcomes musicians and vocalists (from amateur to pro) to join in performing Handel's famous choruses. On Tuesday at 2pm, meet at the Faith Tabernacle for, first, a rehearsal. You'll pay a $10 registration fee (that goes straight to local charity) and instrumentalists will get together with conductor John Bogardus, vocalists with Eszter Horvath, to brush up on the tunes (singers, you'll have to pay a refundable $10 for your scores). For those interested in being an audience member only--- show up around 3pm, it'll likely be a packed house, past years have seen a choir of 300. Whether you're singing it out, or taking it in, Messiah from Scratch is sure to wow.

Tue Dec 27, Faith Tabernacle, 6225 Summit Street, 2pm, $10 (proceeds shared amongst local charities),
