Various locations in Halifax offer a taste of the Czech Republic in bottle form. Mattoni mineral water comes from the natural springs of Karlovy Vary. Dalhousie commerce grad Dan Jockel fell in love with the brand of water when he was a kid spending summers in Czech.

His father, Pavel Jockel, owner of Jockel Import Export (2503 MacDonald), helped him bring this unique taste to Canada."Mattoni is an extremely stylish product, with a bottle designed by leading Italian design studio Pininfarina," says Dan Jockel. "The flavour profile is distinct: it is clean, crisp, mineral undertones without an aftertaste. In fact, Mattoni was rated as the best tasting, most prestigious and the best quality mineral water in Europe."

Mattoni is available at Gio (1725 Market), The Economy Shoe Shop (1663 Argyle), The Bitter End (1572 Argyle), The Carlton (1685 Argyle), Carlitos (6220 Quinpool) and Cafe Istanbul (5986 Spring Garden). Bottoms up.
