Skip the for-casual-fans-only single- disc hits package and cough up for the deluxe. Disc two of a staggering three-part package is the literal and musical centrepiece. Before a reissue of the limited edition Loser Anthems EP and some b-sides is Rooms, an acoustic thematic re-arrangement of nine songs from Good’s catalogue. Three of them — “Truffle Pigs,” a stunning “Tripoli” and “Advertising on Police Cars” — are, interestingly, from what he considers the worst MGB record, The Audio of Being. There’s also an unsettling rendition of live staple “Generation X-Wing” (featuring the immortal line “I dreamed of your sister/fuckin’ me in the shower”). A combative personality has always outshone his talent, but Good is a songwriter to celebrate, and this is the perfect event.
