Maritime Campus goes gold

50 Year Anniversary

This past weekend Maritime Campus Store (6238 Quinpool) celebrated 50 years in business. Owners Paul and Peter Eagle, twin brothers, who bought the company last August and are diligently working away to maintain its longevity.

Maritime Campus Store’s original founder Doug Adams started selling textbooks out of the basement of King’s College until he got kicked out for taking over majority of the downstairs. Back then it was a true campus store that sold university swag and books. These days the business is a multi-faucet. The upstairs floor is the silkscreen and production portion of the business, while the street level storefront is filled with swimsuits and beachwear in every colour of the rainbow imaginable.

“We want to maintain the legacy and quality of the previous years,” says Paul Eagle. “We’re still learning the ropes, but the customer’s have been forgiving and incredibly helpful.” Instead of raising champagne glasses (at least during regular business hours), the shop is continuing their massive bathing suit blow out sale.
