Okay, so maybe Shaw development got a good deal, but what was the alternative? HRM could have bent the rules ( as they seem to do so often) and allowed the development. Instead they gave the developers some profit for surrendering their aspiration to develop. Frankly, as a person who lives on William's Lake, I much prefer to see a conservation park (named Shaw or whatever), than the mixed -use high-rise and home development Shaw applied for. I attended many meetings on this project, and will attend another one this Thursday. Conservation is expensive - check out any US city with a greenbelt, like Boulder, Colorado. BTW that parcel of land that is still for sale - you did not identify where it is? Are you sure it was part of the original development proposal?
"Prepare your hand made pressed corn tortillas"?? You've got to be kidding. Requires masa harena , a specially processed corn meal and a press, and even then it is an art to make decent corn tortilla. You can buy corn tortillas at Sobey's and they work fine, and do not cost a fortune, and are gluten free (unlike the ones at Pete's Frootique). If more Haligonians purchased these, the supplier (in NB) might not go out of business!
