The latest installment continues the tradition of bringing the beloved trading card game to the virtual space. For 2014, the game is smoother and easier to use with exciting new decks and creatures to play with. The brutally long loading times of previous versions aren’t as taxing, and everything flows with a little more ease, making it more accessible to new players. Hardened Magic veterans need not worry; the challenging and strategic card play is as complex and chaotic as ever. Certain decks emphasize speed, others require saving up large amounts of land in order to summon enormous, devastating creatures. At times the music can become repetitive, while maintaining it’s fantastical overtones, and there is some recycling of old creatures from previous games. But Magic 2014 reminds us why the game has stuck around for so long and why legions of players still play it today.
